The R&S®CMP180 radio communication tester is a non-signaling R&D and production test platform for Wi-Fi 6E, Wi-Fi 7, 5G NR FR1 and many other technologies. It is the next generation test platform for cellular and non-cellular technologies. The R&S®CMP180 completes the VSA/VSG single-box tester portfolio for higher frequency ranges up to 8 GHz and provides a bandwidth of up to 500 MHz.

The R&S®FSVR combines a full-featured signal and spectrum analyzer with a real-time spectrum analyzer. Therefore, it provides all the capabilities and features that modern test and measurement instruments of this kind have to offer. In real-time operation, the R&S®FSVR seamlessly measures and displays the spectrum in the time domain with a span of up to 40 MHz. As a result, it captures every event for analysis, no matter how brief that event might be.

Compared to the R&S®FSV analyzer, the R&S®FSVA offers lower phase noise, higher sensitivity and 160 MHz analysis bandwidth up to 40 GHz.

Rohde & Schwarz and Broadcom have successfully validated the R&S CMP180 radio communication tester for production testing of the latest Broadcom Wi-Fi 7 access point chipsets. A Wi-Fi 7 test setup with the R&S CMP180 and a Broadcom Wi-Fi 7 device will be demonstrated at the Rohde & Schwarz booth at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona.

The video explores the technological fundamentals that enables DSS between 5G NR and LTE. 5G New Radio (NR) supports the frequency range 1 (FR1) from 410 MHz to 7.125 GHz that is already intensively utilized by 4G LTE – in particular those frequency bands organized as paired spectrum (FDD).

The wavelength is attractive as compared to FR2 frequencies it is less susceptible to attenuation, simplifying coverage, and includes enough unallocated frequencies to support wider channels than FR1 (100 MHz).

These locations have been integrated into the latest digital Voice-over-IP (VOIP) infrastructure of the German Air Force . Air traffic control operators are now able to communicate with aircraft on VHF 8,33 kHz channel spacing of the frequency band (117,975–137,000 MHz). This simplifies nationwide frequency planning and coordination and fulfills actual requirements of the European Commission.

To achieve these data rates wider signal bandwidths of 500 MHz, 1 GHz and even up to 2 GHz are considered, only available at higher frequencies sub 6 GHz and beyond.
