Rohde & Schwarz and Broadcom extend test collaboration for latest Wi-Fi 7 access point chipsetsRohde & Schwarz and Broadcom have successfully validated the R&S CMP180 radio communication tester for production testing of the latest Broadcom Wi-Fi 7 access point chipsets. A Wi-Fi 7 test setup with the R&S CMP180 and a Broadcom Wi-Fi 7 device will be demonstrated at the Rohde & Schwarz booth at the Mobile World Congress 2023 in Barcelona.
The video explores the technological fundamentals that enables DSS between 5G NR and LTE. 5G New Radio (NR) supports the frequency range 1 (FR1) from 410 MHz to 7.125 GHz that is already intensively utilized by 4G LTE – in particular those frequency bands organized as paired spectrum (FDD).
We use the SMW IQ wideband noise source to generate a 600MHz wideband signal that is injected as a noise through the RT-ZF7 directional coupler test fixture into the DUT. The Media Converter from Technica is able to read out and report the SQI values for various levels of the noise injected into the 1000BASE-T1 communication link.
The wavelength is attractive as compared to FR2 frequencies it is less susceptible to attenuation, simplifying coverage, and includes enough unallocated frequencies to support wider channels than FR1 (100 MHz).

Air traffic control operators are now able to communicate with aircraft on VHF 8,33 kHz channel spacing of the frequency band (117,975–137,000 MHz). This simplifies nationwide frequency planning and coordination and fulfills actual requirements of the European Commission.
To achieve these data rates wider signal bandwidths of 500 MHz, 1 GHz and even up to 2 GHz are considered, only available at higher frequencies sub 6 GHz and beyond.
