Rohde & Schwarz and Nothing Technology announce their joining of forces in the R&D process to validate the 5G multiband aggregation and the application layer performance for Nothing Technology’s new Phone (1) with the R&S CMX500 one-box signaling tester. This collaboration allowed Nothing Technology to successfully debut the new device, while meeting all the compliance requirements for current and future complex 5G band aggregations and application layer performance.

The China Telecommunication Technology Labs (CTTL) Terminal labs at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) successfully conducted specific absorption rate and hearing aid compatibility testing for 5G new radio mobile devices. Rohde & Schwarz announced today the next breakthrough in 5G data performance: With support of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., Rohde & Schwarz has validated 10 Gbps end-to-end (E2E) IP data performance using its R&S CMX500 5G radio communication tester platform. The setup was powered by Snapdragon® X65 5G Modem-RF System, the world’s first 3GPP Release 16 modem-RF system with Qualcomm® QTM545 mmWave Antenna Module.

To do so, the R&S®CMW500 & R&S®CMX500 setup can be extended by an audio analyzer. The R&S®CMW500 wideband radio communication tester in combination with the R&S CMX500 5G communication tester comes with everything needed to test 5G voice services (VoNR) on mobile devices.

Together with HEAD acoustics, Rohde & Schwarz has successfully verified voice services over 5G NR (VoNR). The test solution employs the latest generation of the R&S CMX500 wideband radio communication tester, combined with the labCORE hardware platform from HEAD acoustics and their ACQUA measurement and analysis software. This setup allows simulation of a voice connection in both 5G (VoNR) and 4G (VoLTE) networks. This enables manufacturers of 5G capable telecommunications devices to test the voice quality of their devices at an early stage before market introduction. The solution was presented at the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai in February 2021 for the first time.

As of October 1, 2021, China Mobile requires all 5G enabled mobile phones to support voice services over 5G NR (VoNR). Accordingly, the network operator has announced corresponding audio quality test cases. China Mobile relies on the R&S CMX500 radio communication tester from Rohde & Schwarz for 5G VoNR test verification, and the first acceptance tests have already been performed.
