The R&S CMX500 radio communication tester is adding the next radio interface to its technology coverage, namely Wi-Fi. The web-based GUI application controls the R&S®CMX500 radio communication test platform and enables to perform these measurements in parallel with end-to-end (E2E) tests and with power controlling the 5G device.

The R&S®CMX500 5G and LTE radio communication tester fully emulates a controllable cellular network and enables audio samples to be exchanged with the labCORE. A 5G antenna is connected to the R&S®CMX500, enabling over the air network transmission and then a martphone attaches to the 5G network and connects to the car handsfree system.

Enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) is the use case of 5G NR which supports the ever-increasing end user data rate and system capacity, as mobile devices integrate more and more internet-based services and applications. At MWC21, T&M specialists Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI Solutions will demonstrate a 5G NR eMBB end-to-end test scenario in 5G SA mode (standalone 5G) exceeding for the first time a high-speed data throughput of 7.5 Gbps. The demonstration paves the way for upcoming data rates up to 10 Gbps. This high throughput rate means mobile subscribers will soon benefit from 4K video streams or augmented reality.

In cooperation with MediaTek, Rohde & Schwarz has submitted test cases for 5G NR protocol conformance test to the Global Certification Forum (GCF). The test cases have been validated successfully, adding on to the company’s legacy in IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) protocol conformance testing.

T&M specialists Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI Solutions verify their respective test equipment on correct implementation for 5G NR and LTE. This exchange between the two companies will help accelerate UE commercialization. Rohde & Schwarz and MediaTek have successfully verified new location based services (LBS) features for 5G NR as defined in 3GPP Release 16. These features will not only improve emergency caller location, but also support upcoming LBS-related use cases in challenging indoor and outdoor environments with both, satellite based and terrestrial technologies. Rohde & Schwarz has extended the R&S TS-LBS test solution to support these and other Release 16 network based positioning features.

In order to make it easier to monitor the use and status of instruments, some devices offer the software option Health and Utilization Monitoring Service (HUMS). HUMS provides all necessary information about the health status and utilization over time in many details.
