Rohde & Schwarz has joined the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) to support the organization's mission to foster industrywide standards for communications between vehicles and smartphones. The company will contribute its broad expertise in mobile device and automotive technology testing. In particular, the company will provide its solutions for the development and production of UWB devices and modules for automotive applications such as keyless vehicle access.

A banda ultralarga (UWB) é uma tecnologia de rádio de banda larga para curta distância especificada para a comunicação entre dois dispositivos que operam em espectro não licenciado. Ela é uma tecnologia de posicionamento de RF que permite a telemetria precisa e segura ponto a ponto entre dispositivos móveis, apresenta uma resistência robusta a interferências, consome pouquíssima energia e coexiste bem com outros sistemas de radiocomunicação. A banda ultralarga é usada em várias aplicações diferentes, tais como rastreamento de recursos, pagamento seguro, rastreamento de pessoas, serviços de localização em tempo real, acesso sem chave a veículos e partida de veículos, entre outras. De acordo com as previsões da empresa ABI Research, haverá mais de 1 bilhão de envios de dispositivos com suporte a banda ultralarga anualmente em 2026. Quase todo smartphone enviado em 2026 oferecerá suporte a serviços de banda ultralarga.Quanto aos aspectos de testes dos dispositivos com suporte a banda ultralarga, de maneira geral, duas metodologias podem ser adotadas assim como nos produtos para comunicações sem fio: o modo tradicional de testes (chamado modo de teste conduzido) com conexão de RF por fios entre o equipamento de medição do teste e o dispositivo em teste (DUT) ou modo de testes over the air (OTA) em uma câmara anecoica OTA. Algumas vezes não é possível ou não é necessário realizar os testes em modo conduzido devido a fatores limitantes, por exemplo, os custos, o espaço disponível, a complexidade e o acesso direto aos conectores de RF do produto. Nesses casos, os testes OTA tornam-se uma abordagem obrigatória. Além disso, os testes OTA refletem a utilização do dispositivo em teste em condições reais.Nesta nota de aplicação, é descrita a solução de teste OTA da Rohde & Schwarz que inclui testes de transmissor (Tx), receptor (Rx) e tempo de voo (ToF) em um ambiente de testes automatizados sem fios (WMT). Os resultados de medição em todo o documento são baseados no circuito integrado automotivo com suporte a banda ultralarga NXP Trimension™ NCJ29D5.
