Kyocera has developed an innovative mmWave phased array antenna module (PAAM) that simultaneously creates multiple beams in different directions at different frequencies. These PAAMs will be used in 5G FR2 infrastructure installations, enabling for example site co-location of different operators running networks on different frequency bands. To ensure optimal beam steering and beam directivity of their groundbreaking product, Kyocera relies on CATR-based multi-reflector OTA testing technology from Rohde & Schwarz.

Fraport began testing the world’s first walk-through security scanner for passengers at Frankfurt Airport. The R&S QPS Walk2000 from Rohde & Schwarz is designed to speed up security checks. The first of these scanners is currently in use in Concourse A of Terminal 1. Passengers simply walk through the scanner at a normal pace without stopping. The test and evaluation phase is set to last up to six months and will provide Fraport and Rohde & Schwarz with important information to help optimize the system.

Rohde & Schwarz has successfully validated mission-critical push-to-talk protocol conformance test cases for the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and achieved Test Platform Approval Criteria (TPAC) for its R&S TS-PCT protocol conformance tester. Rohde & Schwarz and Samsung have collaborated to verify secure ranging test cases for the ultra-wideband (UWB) PHY layer and assess the secure receiver characteristics of devices based on FiRa specifications. There are new test cases specified in the FiRa 2.0 Technical Specifications, which covers the prevention of physical layer attacks on secure ranging applications based on UWB technology. These test cases were verified with the R&S CMP200 radio communication tester from Rohde & Schwarz on Samsung’s latest UWB chipset.
