Validate the performance of eCall modules with new GNSS performance test solution from Rohde & Schwarz

From April 1, 2018 onward, all newly registered cars and light trucks in the European Union must be equipped with the eCall automatic emergency system. A new option for the R&S SMBV100A vector signal generator together with test automation software delivers standard-compliant, fully automated performance tests for the GNSS receiver integrated in the eCall module. Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI support European OTIC in Berlin for O-RAN conformance certification

The European Open Testing and Integration Centre (OTIC) in Berlin, located at the Deutsche Telekom innovation campus facilitated by i14y Lab, provides high-quality and comprehensive testing for O-RAN-based products and solutions as well as validation and integration services to a supply chain of open radio access network vendors. In their first successful certification of an O-RAN radio unit (O-RU) according to O-RAN ALLIANCE (O-RAN) as part of the O-RAN Certification and Badging Program, i14y Lab has relied on the integrated solution for O-RU conformance testing by Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI.

Rohde & Schwarz offers independently certified eCall test solution

From April 1, 2018 onward, car manufacturers are required to equip new vehicles for sale in the EU with an eCall module. In the event of a serious accident, this emergency call system automatically sends data to the uniform European emergency phone number 112 to facilitate faster response by emergency services. The independent test house CETECOM has now certified the eCall test solution from Rohde & Schwarz, which can be used to simulate a public safety answering point, in accordance with the EN standard. This puts manufacturers and suppliers in a very good position for acceptance tests of their installed emergency call systems, and the Russian emergency call counterpart ERA-Glonass can also be tested with an extension.
