Key facts
Frequency-converting devices are essential to communications, satellite and radar systems. Vector network analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz offer many options for characterizing these components. The R&S®ZNA has four coherent independent sources and two internal LOs for absolute phase mixer measurements without external devices. R&S®SMARTerCAL provides the most accurate and fastest possible calibration results. Even if you do not have access to the LO of the device under test, the embedded LO tracking function ensures correct results regardless of the device’s internal LO drift.
Fast setup and short measurement times
The four internal, phase-coherent sources make the four-port R&S®VNA a compact test system for any frequency-converting measurement. Easy absolute phase measurements on mixers are possible without reference or auxiliary mixers. The optional two internal LO sources improve measurement speed and lower the trace noise during conversion loss and group-delay measurements.
High accuracy and easy configuration
The R&S®SMARTerCAL special calibration technique combines n-port system error correction with source and receiver power level calibration to perform scalar correction of power at each receiver for high precision results. It corrects mixer port mismatch and does not require external attenuators to improve port matching. The algorithm determines the optimum number of calibration steps to achieve the best accuracy.
Measure the true performance
The embedded LO tracking function measures and compensates for internal LO drift effects of the device under test to deliver accurate results. The LO tracking function makes sure that measurements are performed at the optimum range of the IF filters to deliver true performance without the influence of the measuring equipment IF filter shape.
All parameters at a glance
DUT-centric guided wizards enable the user to set up all key mixer parameters in a single menu. Users are guided through the setup process step by step. Parameters such as IF frequency are calculated from user inputs. The setup process ensures error-free configuration and faster set up even for multi-stage converters.
