  • High sensitivity
  • Wide dynamic range
  • Compact design
  • Virtually constant antenna factor

Broadband active loop antenna for measuring magnetic field strength

The R&S®HFH2-Z2E active loop antenna measures the magnetic field strength in the LF, MF and HF frequency ranges from 8.3 kHz to 30 MHz. It can be used for EMI measurements in line with various standards (i.e. CISPR, MIL, FCC, ANSI, ETSI). The antenna is characterized by an almost frequency-independent antenna factor and very high sensitivity. In strong field environments, an attenuator can be activated to reduce distortion. An integrated RF detector with a threshold circuit reports overload of the antenna.

Features & benefits

Wide frequency range

Only one antenna needed for the entire frequeny range

The R&S®HFH2-Z2E active loop antenna measures the magnetic field strength in the LF, MF and HF ranges from 8.3 kHz to 30 MHz. It can be used for EMI measurements in line with various standards (i.e. CISPR, MIL, FCC, ANSI, ETSI).

High sensitivity

For measuring magnetic fields with very low field strength

Thanks to the sophisticated antenna design, the R&S®HFH2-Z2E has a very high sensitivity allowing the antenna to measure magnetic fields with very low field strength starting from (< –70 dB(μA/m/Hz) (meas.) for > 1.5 MHz to 30 MHz).

Wide dynamic range

For measuring magnetic fields with low to high field strength values

The antenna offers a wide dynamic range from lower limit magnetic field strength (< –70 dB(μA/m/Hz) (meas.) for > 1.5 MHz to 30 MHz) to the upper limit magnetic field strength (typ. 85 dB(μA/m) in normal mode. In strong field environments, an attenuator can be activated to reduce distortion.

Virtually constant antenna factor

For precise measurement results

The antenna consists of a loop connected to an active impedance converter. The active impedance converter matches the low input impedance of the loop to 50 Ω so that the antenna factor is almost constant in the entire frequency range, providing a constant output signal in constant magnetic fields.
