Manual calibration kits and automatic calibration units are usually connected to the test cables during the VNA setup calibration and disconnected when measuring. Alternatives are needed if the operator cannot access the setup or if frequent recalibration is required. The R&S®ZN-Z3x modules are ideal for TVAC chamber or production testing. They are permanently connected, and the CAN bus control allows up to 48 modules (test ports) and re-calibration at a keystroke. The TVAC 40 GHz model can be cooled for satellite measurements.

Up to 48 modules, distributed over wide distances

The robust serial controller area network (CAN bus) can bridge a distance of up to 40 m from the controller to the first module, linking the equipment in the control rack with the TVAC chamber. Signals (S-parameters) from 48 connections can be detected with up to 48 modules. The R&S®ZN-Z3x modules can be connected and positioned as required with optional CAN bus cables.

Easy rack integration or desktop setup

An R&S®ZN-Z3x system just needs the R&S®ZN-Z30 CAN bus controller and the calibration modules in addition to the VNA. The R&S®ZN-ASW tool for module configuration and calibration support runs on the VNA or an external control PC.

TVAC satellite testing

Module for extended temperature range

The R&S®ZN-Z33 *.03 model (10 MHz to 40 GHz) supports the -30°C to +80°C temperature range. As the display and labels are omitted, there is no evaporation, qualifying it for testing in thermal vacuum chambers.
