Rohde & Schwarz has upgraded its industry leading R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and its midrange counterpart, the R&S SMM100A. With significant enhancements in error vector magnitude (EVM) performance, the evolved R&S SMW200A is a robust choice for both 5G NR FR3 research and high demand RF applications like power amplifier testing. The instrument now also includes a new RF linearization software option, which uses digital pre distortion to optimize EVM at high output power. Rohde & Schwarz launches its novel wideband modulated load pull solution. Based on the R&S RTP oscilloscope, this solution offers an extension to traditional vector network analyzer (VNA)-based solutions for non-linear device characterization. As 5G networks are being rolled out globally, the evolution of the 5G NR standard continues. With Release 17, 3GPP will extend the frequency support of 5G NR mmWave bands into the unlicensed spectrum up to 71 GHz, a frequency band traditionally used by non-cellular standards like IEEE 802.11ad and 11ay.
