At the recent Conformance Agreement Group (CAG) #77 meeting, Rohde & Schwarz has successfully verified the NTN NB-IoT test cases of work item 333 using its R&S CMW500 radio communication tester, allowing the Global Certification Forum (GCF) to activate the work item in their device certification program. Manufacturers of IoT chipsets, modems and end devices as well as test houses can now rely on the proven Rohde & Schwarz solution to bring next-generation IoT devices based on non-terrestrial networks (NTN) to the market, enabling ubiquitous connectivity on land, at sea, and in the air.

The demonstration at Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona is based on the PVT360A performance vector tester from Rohde & Schwarz characterizing the Pegatron 5G PR1450 O-RU. The Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN, Lille, France) and Rohde & Schwarz have expanded their collaboration to research THz communications that utilize photonic technologies. In a recent demonstration, IEMN reached a milestone when researchers achieved generated a 300 GHz bidirectional link over an outdoor distance of 645 m for use in future 6G backhauling scenarios. The R&S SMA100B microwave signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz was a crucial component in the performance test setup. The R&S SMA100B provides an ultra-low phase noise signal that helps accelerate THz communications research and development to ready it for industrialization.

Rohde & Schwarz is launching the new R&S NRP170TWG(N) thermal power sensor for precise power level measurements in the D-band. It is the only RF power sensor on the market that offers full traceability to national metrology institutes (NMI) in the frequency range from 110 GHz to 170 GHz, an important prerequisite for commercializing the frequency band. The R&S NRP170TWG(N) hardware is designed to reduce measurement noise and drift, while remaining very accurate and easy to use. At the EMV 2025 tradeshow in Stuttgart, Rohde & Schwarz displays for the first time its R&S HF1444G14 High-gain EMI microwave antenna with outstanding performance. The antenna covers a frequency range from 14.9 GHz to 44 GHz. It meets the requirements of the standards CISPR 16-1-4 and CISPR 16-2-3. Precise mechanical construction and optionally available individual calibration make the antenna ideal for electromagnetic interference measurements. The next Bluetooth® release is expected to be ratified soon. One important new feature is the Unified Test Protocol (UTP) Test Mode for Bluetooth® Low Energy, that will complement existing test methods.
