Recently, China Mobile has selected the R&S SMM100A vector signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz to validate its 5G technology. The new signal source generates 5G signals in research applications to verify current and future 5G technologies. The company will contribute its broad expertise in mobile device and automotive technology testing. In particular, the company will provide its solutions for the development and production of UWB devices and modules for automotive applications such as keyless vehicle access.

This is especially important for applications such as Bluetooth hands-free calling and eCall. The process starts accurately measuring speech quality over a 5G connection in a lab environment, such as the HEAD acoustics facility in Aachen, Germany.
