The first episode of this series provided an overview of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in today’s wireless communications landscape, with a focus on pilot use cases in 5G-Advanced.
This second installment is all about using ML to enhance channel state information (CSI) feedback - the only two-sided pilot use case for AI/ML in 5G-Advanced. In this scenario, the ML model runs partially in two entities, one on the user equipment (UE) side and the other on the network side. The two Andreases also review the current status of AI in 3GPP and provide insights into a recent interoperability testing milestone, achieved in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies.
