Key facts
The R&S®VS5400 telephony server acts as an interface between the VCS environment and standard telephony systems. It enables communications between CWPs, IP phones and other interconnected SIP trunks. The server also provides media conference resources between CWPs, IP phones and legacy equipment connected via CERTIUM GATEWAYS. It is one of the main building blocks within the CERTIUM ecosystem's VCS subsystem, as it coordinates all IP calls and manages traffic within the given topology.
Central VoIP logistics center in your VCS.
The R&S®VS5400 broadens the scope of functions provided by the rest of the VCS. It plays a central role in providing vital resources, e.g. cross-coupling calls and establishing media conferences. Acting as an RTP proxy, the R&S®VS5400 telephony server platform allows telephony communications and voice recording for VoIP SIP phones.
The central hub for VCS telephony
The R&S®VS5400 interconnects SIP phone users, CWPs and users at legacy lines for real-time media conferences.
Connecting ground-ground components as a proxy
IP based voice communications systems are complex. The R&S®VS5400 telephony server manages VoIP traffic from CWPs, IP phones and other interconnected SIP trunks within a VCS. It unveils its full potential in a deeply integrated solution such as the R&S®CERTIUM ecosystem.
A typical ground-ground call.
Ground-ground voice traffic is critical to ATC networks. The R&S®VS5400 telephony server ensures seamless interfacing between partner networks.
Security for your VCS
The R&S®VS5400 telephony server can also act as a session border controller. By taking on this role, the R&S®VS5400 enhances security for VCS infrastructures in the form of resilience and network separation, reducing a network's exposure to potential threats, as well as a given threat's projected impact.
Network separation
Thanks to its built-in SBC, the R&S®VS5400 is able to isolate single branches of the network and limit the impact of potential attacks.
Superior reliability for critical infrastructures
The R&S®VS5400 telephony server follows the quad redundancy architecture of CERTIUM VCS. The ATC communications solution family relies on multiple instances backing each other up, providing overall system resilience even in the case of complete failures, e.g. due to an earthquake.
