Rohde & Schwarz has upgraded its industry leading R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and its midrange counterpart, the R&S SMM100A. With significant enhancements in error vector magnitude (EVM) performance, the evolved R&S SMW200A is a robust choice for both 5G NR FR3 research and high demand RF applications like power amplifier testing. The instrument now also includes a new RF linearization software option, which uses digital pre distortion to optimize EVM at high output power. The R&S SMM100A has also been upgraded with improved EVM capabilities.

Rohde & Schwarz launches its novel wideband modulated load pull solution. Based on the R&S RTP oscilloscope, this solution offers an extension to traditional vector network analyzer (VNA)-based solutions for non-linear device characterization. By enabling load pull with wideband modulated signals, it allows precise validation of key performance indicators across varying impedances, such as error vector magnitude (EVM) and adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR), to support the development of RF components for next-generation wireless technologies.

NXP Semiconductors, an innovator and supplier of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) solutions, and Rohde & Schwarz collaborate to demonstrate a test setup for UWB radar target simulation at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The demonstration, being the first of its kind, verifies the unique performance of the NXP Trimension™ NCJ29D6A chipset including the enhanced radar algorithms. It is capable of generating UWB radar targets with a variable target distance down to a few centimeters, enabling maximum control and reproducibility of the simulated scenario.

Kyocera has developed an innovative mmWave phased array antenna module (PAAM) that simultaneously creates multiple beams in different directions at different frequencies. Rohde & Schwarz has introduced not just one but two new maximum frequencies for the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator, bringing previously impossible high performance to digitally modulated signals up to 67 GHz and beyond. The R&S SMW200A is first to enable flat frequency response and 2 GHz modulation bandwidth above 44 GHz. In addition to all applications already supported up to 44 GHz, the 100 kHz to 56 GHz option covers all currently used 5G frequencies, plus earth-to-satellite applications. The 100 kHz to 67 GHz option also supports planned higher frequency 5G bands, the 60 GHz WiGig band, and inter-satellite links.

Rohde & Schwarz presents an innovative signal generation and analysis solution for measurements in the D band that will significantly simplify early next generation mobile communications research. As 5G networks are being rolled out globally, the evolution of the 5G NR standard continues. With Release 17, 3GPP will extend the frequency support of 5G NR mmWave bands into the unlicensed spectrum up to 71 GHz, a frequency band traditionally used by non-cellular standards like IEEE 802.11ad and 11ay. Academia and industry leaders agree that the 110 GHz to 170 GHz frequency range, known as D-Band, is critical for beyond 5G and 6G mobile communications and future automotive radar applications.
