Rohde & Schwarz is looking for an experienced RF System Architect to support our European T&M sales team in the offering phase, defining high-level design and system solutions for RF equipment. The Employee will be responsible for generating technical architectures, high-level specifications, feasibility analysis and technical support in customer presentations. The position is based in Madrid or Barcelona and will give support to R&S European subsidiaries.

Your tasks

  • Give technical support to sales engineers. Prepare and present high-level technical solutions for sales quotes.
  • Define RF system architectures. Topologies, interfaces, functional blocks, signal switching.
  • Design test benches for multiple applications. Some examples are active and passive RF devices, phased array systems, RF environment simulation among others.
  • Evaluate technical feasibility, risks and cost/effort estimates for proposed solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales teams, systems engineers, procurement and integration to ensure consistency between supply and deployment.
  • Technical support during negotiations and customer tests.
  • Maintain technical relationships with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the definition of technical roadmap.

Your qualifications

  • University degree in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar.
  • Demonstrable experience (6+ years) in design/architecture of RF systems or in similar roles in telecommunications, defense, aerospace or test & measurement companies.
  • Deep knowledge of RF systems: RF chain design, TRM, phased array, beamforming, calibration and phase/gain control techniques.
  • Ability to generate high-level designs and translate customer requirements into technical and test specifications
  • Availability to travel abroad
  • High level of spoken and written English Desirable requirements:
  • Specific experience with phased arrays and TRM modules.
  • Knowledge of applicable product regulations (MIL-STD, EMC/EMI, electrical safety, customer industry standards).
  • History of participation in technical proposals and knowledge of RFI/RFQ processes.
  • Experience in defense/aerospace environments and possession of clearance/clearance (if applicable).
  • Technical leadership skills and ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Complementary training or relevant certifications (e.g. advanced courses in RF, antenna design, beamforming).
