Rohde & Schwarz is first to submit 5G Next Generation eCall (NGeCall) protocol test cases to the 3GPP Global Certification Forum (GCF). The company is also launching a new 5G NGeCall application option that simulates the public safety answering point (PSAP) functions required for the end-to-end conformance tests that verify the interoperability of the equipment under test for the complete communication exchange. Rohde & Schwarz, in collaboration with wireless communications engineering experts IMST GmbH, has developed a patented antenna digital twin solution, effectively addressing a multitude of challenges and delivering considerable benefits for vehicle manufacturers and their suppliers to optimize automotive connectivity. The solution combines measurements of the antenna characteristics with simulation of the electromagnetic wave propagation to optimize the antennas’ design and their position to ensure for example optimal WiFi coverage inside the vehicle.

Rohde & Schwarz has collaborated with Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) to create a wide range of tests for Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) devices. The GMSL technology from ADI provides a cost-efficient, scalable, and simple SerDes solution designed to improve performance for high-speed video links, primarily used in In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) in vehicles. The next Bluetooth® release is expected to be ratified soon. One important new feature is the Unified Test Protocol (UTP) Test Mode for Bluetooth® Low Energy, that will complement existing test methods. The UTP Test Mode will additionally enable over-the-air (OTA) controlled device testing, which will simplify measurements of small and highly integrated devices enormously, since no direct wired connection to the tester is needed.
