Rohde & Schwarz has collaborated with Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) to create a wide range of tests for Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) devices. The GMSL technology from ADI provides a cost-efficient, scalable, and simple SerDes solution designed to improve performance for high-speed video links, primarily used in In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) and Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) in vehicles. The collaboration will enable engineers, developers and manufacturers to create and deploy GMSL-based ADAS and IVI systems rapidly.

KT has collaborated with Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI Solutions to develop non-terrestrial network (NTN) technology that overcomes the disadvantages of long propagation delays in satellite communication environments. With this technology, a bandwidth of more than 10 Mbps is possible even between a geostationary (GEO) satellite and user device. This increased transmission efficiency was leveraged to successfully transmit full HD video. The Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN, Lille, France) and Rohde & Schwarz have expanded their collaboration to research THz communications that utilize photonic technologies. In a recent demonstration, IEMN reached a milestone when researchers achieved generated a 300 GHz bidirectional link over an outdoor distance of 645 m for use in future 6G backhauling scenarios. The R&S SMA100B microwave signal generator from Rohde & Schwarz was a crucial component in the performance test setup. The R&S SMA100B provides an ultra-low phase noise signal that helps accelerate THz communications research and development to ready it for industrialization.

Rohde & Schwarz is launching the new R&S NRP170TWG(N) thermal power sensor for precise power level measurements in the D-band. It is the only RF power sensor on the market that offers full traceability to national metrology institutes (NMI) in the frequency range from 110 GHz to 170 GHz, an important prerequisite for commercializing the frequency band. The R&S NRP170TWG(N) hardware is designed to reduce measurement noise and drift, while remaining very accurate and easy to use. The sensors are fully calibrated plug & play devices that can be easily integrated into any measurement setup with a USB or LAN connection.

Fraport began testing the world’s first walk-through security scanner for passengers at Frankfurt Airport. The R&S QPS Walk2000 from Rohde & Schwarz is designed to speed up security checks. The first of these scanners is currently in use in Concourse A of Terminal 1. Passengers simply walk through the scanner at a normal pace without stopping. The test and evaluation phase is set to last up to six months and will provide Fraport and Rohde & Schwarz with important information to help optimize the system.

Rohde & Schwarz and Samsung have collaborated to verify secure ranging test cases for the ultra-wideband (UWB) PHY layer and assess the secure receiver characteristics of devices based on FiRa specifications. There are new test cases specified in the FiRa 2.0 Technical Specifications, which covers the prevention of physical layer attacks on secure ranging applications based on UWB technology. These test cases were verified with the R&S CMP200 radio communication tester from Rohde & Schwarz on Samsung’s latest UWB chipset.
