The R&S®MSD modular system device combines flexible antenna switching and rotator control in one compact device.

A minimum set of data (MSD) is sent to a public safety answering point (PSAP). The existing voice call allows the PSAP operator to talk to the occupants. The operator can then dispatch an ambulance if necessary and use the MSD and voice call information to optimize the response of the emergency services. The voice call and MSD can be via communicated via different generations of mobile networks.

Applus Laboratories and Rohde & Schwarz have successfully showcased the seamless integration of eCall testing in an electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test environment. The demonstration illustrated different eCall testing scenarios and capabilities in compliance with the UN ECE R10 standard, which regulates automobile-related EMC.

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, and Rohde & Schwarz have successfully validated Quectel’s innovative 5G eCall module, part of the AG56xN series of automotive modules. For the test, the R&S CMX500 wideband radio communication tester has been used. The test setup will be shown at Mobile World Congress 2024.

Il sistema eCall è stato reso obbligatorio in tutte le nuove auto vendute nella UE a partire dal 31 marzo 2018. In caso di incidente stradale grave, una chiamata di emergenza (E112) è avviata manualmente o automaticamente da un veicolo a un’agenzia di emergenza e integrata inviando un set minimo di dati (MSD) che trasporta informazioni rilevanti sul veicolo e sulla posizione.
