Are you an engineering student, interested in learning about technical sales? As a Sales Engineering Intern at Rohde & Schwarz (R&S), you’ll be working closely with the local Technical Sales Team to drive business in the Mid-Atlantic. Through ongoing customer outreach, you will identify customers that have an interest in Rohde & Schwarz solutions, and connect those customers to the local Account Managers for further discussions. This position combines technical learning about Rohde & Schwarz products with business responsibilities to help develop new customers. It’s the ideal role for someone looking to balance their technical, business, and interpersonal skills in a customer facing role.

Your tasks

  • ? With the assistance of the Mid-Atlantic Sales Team and Inside Sales, develop lists of potential customers and scripts to use to gauge interest.
  • Connect with those potential customers via phone, email, text, and social media (ex: LinkedIn) to introduce them to Rohde & Schwarz and gauge their interest in our solutions.
  • Learn about R&S products - such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers – through self-paced technical training and hands-on learning.
  • Network with the Mid-Atlantic sales team through local events and customer-facing activity to learn about career opportunities available in Technical Sales
  • Present a summary of the internship experience to Sales Managers and other interns, providing feedback for future internship positions at R&S

Your qualifications

  • Rising Jr or Sr year in engineering field (any discipline- Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred but not required)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Summer resident of the greater Columbia, MD area. We are unable to provide housing or relocation for summer interns
  • US Citizen required Additional Skills
  • Interested in Technical Sales as a potential career path
  • Strong communication skills- understands/enjoys technical topocs and can explain them to anyone at any level
  • Highly motivated to work with customer and support them in our goals
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Enjoys working as a team

This is an hourly position, paying $22-$27/hour, minimum of 30 hours per week.
