The Material Management Technician is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely handling, storage, and distribution of materials for SMT (Surface Mount Technology) production lines. This role supports production efficiency by maintaining material availability, performing inventory control, and ensuring that materials are properly prepared and presented for SMT processes.
Your tasks
Material Handling & Kitting
Prepare and issue kits to SMT lines according to production schedules and BOMs (Bill of Materials)
Ensure all components are correct, properly labeled, and in usable condition
Load/unload reels, trays, and components to/from machines as required
Inventory Management
Monitor stock levels of SMT components, notify shortages, and coordinate with purchasing or planning
Perform regular inventory cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies
Maintain proper storage of moisture-sensitive devices (MSDs) in compliance with IPC standards
System & Documentation
Use ERP/MRP systems to track material movements and update inventory records
Ensure accurate data entry of lot numbers, quantities, and part numbers
Quality & Compliance
Handle ESD-sensitive components by following proper ESD procedures
Ensure compliance with company standards for traceability and material control
Report and isolate non-conforming materials
Line Support
Replenish feeders, components, and materials during production runs
Assist with line setup and teardown based on job changeovers
Communicate material shortages or issues to production leads or engineers promptly

Your qualifications
Diploma or equivalent; technical diploma is a plus
1–3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or SMT environment
Familiarity with component identification, ESD handling, and IPC standards
Experience using ERP systems and barcode scanners
Ability to read BOMs, work instructions, and assembly drawings
Strong attention to detail and well-organized
