Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) plays a fundamental role in the modern automotive industry. To ensure the quality of embedded automotive GNSS systems, a Chinese national standard called "The requirements and test methods for on-board positioning system" has been created and Rohde & Schwarz contributed to the drafting of the standard and helped to define the test procedure.
The standard (GB/T 45086.1-2024) requires automotive GNSS systems to provide positioning data output rates "of not less than 1 Hz", as well as to process signals from a minimum of two frequency bands at the same time. It defines 46 GNSS test cases including function, performance, robustness, and radio frequency coordination to verify that receivers are fully compliant.
The solution consists of the SMBV100B GNSS simulator emulating the satellite constellation, the RTM oscilloscope to analyze the 1 pulse per second timing and the NGC power supply to perform standard-compliant power on/off steps. The K364 software option based on CMWrun software automatically configures all the instruments, controls all the system and runs the test procedure, it can also support flexible parameter setting and user-defined test cases.
This solution has already been validated by leading industry players, such as GNSS chipset manufacturers, module providers, Tier 1s, and certification labs. It provides a reliable and efficient way to meet Chinese GNSS requirements and ensure your automotive GNSS devices are fully compliant with the new standard. Moreover, combined with Rohde & Schwarz radio communication tester CMX500, it can build a smooth transition to the future Chinese automotive emergency call standard.
