Reconfigurable intelligent surface（RIS）は、5Gミリ波の効率的な展開・運用に加えて、将来の6Gアプリケーションに対するポテンシャルの高さから、ワイヤレス業界の注目を集めいています。ローデ・シュワルツとGreenerwave社が先ごろ行った一連の測定では、ローデ・シュワルツのOTA（over-the-air）アンテナテスト・システムを用いて、Greenerwave社が開発した新しいFR2用RISモジュールがもつ可変な電波反射特性を評価しました。初めての実測結果の一つとして、メタマテリアルをベースとしたRISにより、特に5GFR2に対してカバレッジと無線通信の効率を向上できることを確認しました。この画期的な取組みは将来の6G開発に向けた道を開くものともなるでしょう。

ローデ・シュワルツは、5G Next Generation eCall（NGeCall）プロトコル・テストケースを3GPP Global Certification Forum（GCF）に初めて提出しました。さらに、緊急通報受付センター（public safetyanswering point：PSAP）の機能をシミュレートする新しい5G NGeCallアプリケーション・オプションも発売します。このシミュレーションは、被試験装置の相互運用性を情報交換のすべてについて検証するエンド・ツー・エンドのコンフォーマンス試験に必要となります。これらローデ・シュワルツのeCall製品ラインナップに加わった両製品によりR&S CMX500ワンボックス・テスタを用いて、新しい5G NGeCallシステムの早期テストに対応できるようになり、5G NGeCallシステムのタイムリーな導入に貢献します。
