A typical approach for measuring differential signals is to use two cables and perform a math on the two input channels in post-processing. For most oscilloscopes this creates a problem not being able to trigger on this math signal. The RTP addresses this with an hardware-based math approach in the acquisition path, enabling for the first time triggering on math signals.
